We have seen unprecedented rates of incarceration and overdose over the past 40 years. Our healthcare costs have skyrocketed and Substance Use Disorder (SUD) is now the #1 cause of death for people under 30, and quickly on the way to becoming the #1 cause of death for all Americans. How did we get here? Where do we go now? These are the questions I have dedicated my legal career to and it was why I was so excited to join the Romano Law Group. The Romano Law Group has expressed immense support for this work and we are working towards societal solutions through litigation and policy reform.

High-speed police chases make movies more exciting. We get an adrenaline rush and a sense of dramatic urgency when we see portrayals of police doing everything it takes to take down the bad guys. In real life, though, there can be serious consequences from police chases.

A high-speed car chase carries with it the obvious risk that the fleeing suspect or police officers will crash their cars and get injured. It also carries the risk that they will crash into innocent civilians. This risk is not hypothetical – it has been known to happen in Florida.

While the government and the heavy truck industry have made strides over the years in better protecting truck drivers/occupants of heavy trucks in certain crash scenarios - through the implementation of seat-belts, airbags, crash-avoidance technology, occupant cab structural integrity, and other measures - there remains a high risk of truck driver and truck occupant deaths due to explosion and fire when the truck’s side-mounted fuel tanks are ruptured in a crash and the large quantities of fuel are ignited.

Foundation sponsors National Traumatic Brain Injury Awareness Month, which is observed during the month of September, in order to raise awareness about the causes, and prevention, of traumatic brain injuries (TBIs).  TBIs are widely misunderstood and are far more common than most realize. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), there were approximately 2.8 million TBI-related emergency room visits, hospitalizations and deaths in the United States in 2013 and 153 people die from injuries that include TBI daily.

On August  13,  2018 an Alachua County jury awarded, our brave client,  Rebekka Trahan,  more than $4.6 million for what she said was more than a decade-and-a-half’s worth of mistreatment.

As outlined in our complaint,  Trahan was molested by her father from the time she was 8 years old until she left her parent’s home at 24. The filing alleges that Trahan’s older brother, Scott F. Mulholland, also abused her from the time she was 13 years old until her departure.
