At Romano Law Group, our auto accident attorneys understand that many Palm Beach area residents will leave their homes on New Year's Eve to enjoy the coming of 2015. We hope you have fun and we hope you have a wonderful 2015.
But it's important to make sure that you have a safe New Year's. And this can be a challenge, as New Year's Eve is one of the most dangerous days of the year on which to drive. Here are a few recommendations for safe driving on New Year's:
Above all else, do not drive drunk. And so far as the law is concerned, “buzzed” is the same as “drunk.” If you've been drinking do not get behind the wheel if you have even the slightest inkling that you might be even a little impaired.
We understand that drinking is a popular pastime on New Year's, and that's just fine. But make preparations so that you're not put in a bad position. If you know you're going to drink at a New Year's party, make arrangements for transportation. Don't drive yourself- arrange a cab, or choose a designated driver.
Be careful when driving home. You might be sober and responsible, but you should assume that many drivers on the road are not. New Year's is one of the busiest DUI days of the year, so watch other cars on the road for dangerous, erratic behavior.
Of course, you should also practice all of the safe driving techniques you exhibit on a daily basis: don't speed, don't text and drive, keep your eyes on the road and always follow traffic laws.
And if you do everything right but still suffer an injury as a result of someone driving negligently, our auto accident attorneys stand ready to help.
