As a fairly clumsy person myself, I don’t need any help slipping and falling.  I don’t need the assistance of a business that fails to mop up a puddle or a supermarket who forgets to clean aisle three.  That is one of the reasons why I love doing what I do. As a personal injury lawyer, my job is to hold landowners accountable for their actions or inactions. I get to help people who have been injured, not through their own clumsiness, but because of someone else’s wrongdoing.

Opiates are a group of drugs that manage pain by depressing the central nervous system (CNS). There are two different kinds of opiates: natural and synthetic. Natural opiates come from the dried “milk” of the poppy plant and include opium, morphine and codeine. Heroin, for example, is made from the sap-like opium of poppy plants. Once cultivated, the opium resin is refined to make morphine, then transformed into different forms of heroin.

As we enter the summer months, millions of Americans will flock to the water to cool off and to enjoy some recreational fun.  While recent headlines have alerted people to the dangers of alligators in Florida lakes, water in Florida and elsewhere often conceals a much greater, yet lesser known, danger. The naegleria fowleri amoeba, often referred to as the brain-eating amoeba, is prevalent in freshwater bodies in Florida and throughout the southern U.S.  The amoeba seems to thrive in warm, fresh water, particularly when the water and the surrounding soil become disturbed.
